A true Alpine experience, a balance of traditional and modern, snow-sure resorts.

France has a wide choice of resorts popular with British skiers, ranging from traditional picturesque Alpine villages to modern high-rise snow-sure resorts. Perhaps the top ski area in France and arguably the largest linked ski area in the world is ‘The Three Valleys’, at the heart of which is the chic resort of Courchevel. Couchevel and the neighbouring resort of Meribel are more traditional resorts architecturally, but for ski-in, ski-out convenience, the resorts of Les Menuires and Val Thorens offer high altitude snow sure conditions.

Another hugely popular ski area in France is the Espace Killy, which links the well known traditional resort of Val d’Isère and the high altitude glacier resort of Tignes. Together these two resorts offer over 300 km of well-connected pistes with plenty of variety for all skiing abilities.

The Portes du Soleil region, which links together Avoriaz, Morzine and Les Gets, also offers the best of both worlds, with attractive traditional alpine hotels in atmospheric Morzine or Les Get and modern, ski-in, ski-out accommodation in Avoriaz. In the Mont Blanc region, the well known resort of Chamonix remains a firm favourite with British skiers and exclusive Megève offers quality hotels in a chic setting.
